Learn a new language with this interactive database that provides step by step lesson plans for nine different languages. This database features ESL lessons for Brazilian Portuguese, Polish and Spanish speakers with more languages available before the end of the year. A text translator is also providedMission
The Onondaga County Public Library's Adult Literacy Program offers a variety of materials and services in support of our mission to assist our adult learners in becoming "information literate," and to help them on a path to lifelong learning. Information literacy includes:
- traditional literacy (reading and writing)
- media literacy (using videos and audiotapes for information)
- computer literacy (using literacy software and other basic applications)
- network literacy (using OCPL's online catalog, serials database and the Internet)

Tours
Library tours for basic education and ESOL classes are offered at the Central Library. Tours can focus on how to get a library card, how to use the catalog, using the Literacy Resource Center, job searching and career advancement, world language collection and the literacy computer lab.
